Stonyhurst Nostalgia ๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
Hereโs a celebration of those amazing camps run by City of Salford SC at Stonyhurst College. It is a tradition for our club which stretches back beyond my own 19 years here at Salford and it is with great regret that we are not in attendance presently ๐๐๐.
It is an opportunity for many swimmers to have a fantastic life experience in the challenging environment of an intense training camp.
Many thanks to all the coaches and volunteers over the years who have helped in delivering such a superb experience for young children from COS. Much gratitude ๐๐๐
Big hand to Lee Bleasdale for the video and all his work organising these camps ๐
Enjoy ๐

Update 5
All done and our swimmers attending every session have covered between 73,400 and 81,600 metres. There have been some truly impressive performances and resilience has been a key component in achieving these distances. It has been unsurprising but eye opening to see athlete fitness elevate to new levels day by day despite all the fatigue so I am very happy with the balance of volume and intensity achieved.
We had another quiz, this time won by Team Juan (Harriet, Luke Adams, Ella and Gabby). There were no takers for the mountain so JS went up solo ๐
Big thanks to our TMs (Claire & Rachel) who have almost qualified as pharmacists with their frequent visits to the chemist and medical centre on this camp.
Well done survivors....oops...swimmers ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐

Thanks to Ella for the synopsis of her first camp -
Swim camp summary:
I have really enjoyed my first International swim camp. It was a completely new experience with some difficult challenges but also a lot of fun along the way.
This camp has been a one of my best swimming experiences and one I will never forget. The training was extremely challenging and tough but completing every session and not missing a single metre out on the camp gave me a sense of accomplishment and made me feel even stronger - I hope this will help me in the future.
I am sad to leave as I had lots of fun, met some great people and swimming in an outdoor pool was a brand new experience and was really exciting.
I will build on all of my training & experience from the camp & continue to work hard in every session once I am home in order to progress and try to achieve my goals, both short term and long term.

Update 4
The swimmers had a highly challenging set on Sunday morning but were rewarded with an afternoon off for their sterling efforts. Cue dash to the beach ๐
After some frolicking and playing in the sea it was Dominos and McDonaldโs time (note - this was not sanctioned by JS).
The evening quiz ensued and Round 2 was won by Team OAP (Sean, Emily, Hannah and Frankie). This was the Chocolate Bar Quiz and TMs Rachel and Claire insisted on having a solo go - Rachelโs knowledge of chocolate narrowly edged Claireโs by one point ๐ซ
Back to the pool action this morning and it was the Big No1 over distance challenge. Special mention to the Fly folk here (Joe, Ella, Emily and Adam) that 4x1000 was brutal ๐ซ
27 Degrees for our afternoon outdoor session......โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ hope youโre all warm back home ๐
