City of Salford Swimming Club is ran by a great team of volunteers and we are always keen to welcome additional support. If you would like to get involved even in a small way, please contact Sue Lee or Michelle Corder at: [email protected]
As Chair, John is responsible for the day to day governance and running of the Club. The Chair’s task is to ensure Committee Meetings and AGMs are delivered accordingly and to ensure the Club is operating under the correct affiliations and procedures. The Chair role is to also act as a facilitator, mediator and leading role as the ambassador of the Club for all internal and external stakeholders and groups.
As Secretary, Debbie handles the administration side of the Club’s documentation, ensuring all our Swim England affiliation paperwork is correct including the Club’s constitution. The Secretary is also the day to day contact for all Club enquiries and helps facilitate communication across the Club’s groups. For all Committee meetings, the Secretary also maintains all the Agendas, Minutes and Actions to ensure the Committee’s business is followed up and documented.
Mark does a tremendous amount of work to maintain the Club’s financial accounts. We have many payments constantly coming in and out of the Club which the Treasurer tracks, processes and documents. Mark has actively moved the Club’s accounting to digital methods and has streamlined our way of working. In doing so, the Executive Committee has been able to budget for the season much more informed due to the instant digital financial tracking. On top of this role, Mark undertakes a large role in the delivery of our Home Competitions across the IT and Technology.
Kim undertakes an exceptional role preparing, producing, managing and delivering our Home Competition operations. The Club heavily relies on these events to fund around 50% of its income and so this role is crucial to the success and continuation of the Club. Kim is supported by a great team across officials, team managing and a whole host of other on-the-day tasks. However – our portfoloio of events is growing and we would like further support for Kim from Group C and below.
Tracy conducts and important job in tracking and maintaining our Membership across Category 1, Category 2 and Category 3 members. The Club has over 220 members across competing swimmers, volunteers and further afield to our Honorary & Life Members. The Membership Secretary ensures all are documented correctly across the Club and for our Swim England affiliation. Tracy also undertakes the important role of Away Competition Secretary to process all our grouped entries for the competitions we actively attend as a Club.
Sue works across a number of roles at the Club but more notably leading on Club Kit and the annual International Training Camp. Sue maintains the stock levels and prepares all orders and deliveries to keep our Club on point with the full suite of clothing attire. The Club also provides a number of complimentary racing hats and major event-specific tshirts that Sue manages. The annual ITC requires a highly experienced Team Manager to lead the project and we’re thankful to Sue for taking on this role in recent years.
Michelle works closely with Sue on many Club projects but takes primary lead across our Volunteer Management. To keep the Club operating safely and for safeguarding purposes, we have a duty to provide the correct number of accredited Team Managers across our many competitions and camps. Michelle does a great job in coordinating the team to ensure we have the right people in the right places at all times – including herself giving up much time to help TM pool side.
Natalie has injected a huge breath of fresh air into our Fundraising efforts since joining the Committee. 2023 saw the launch of a sponsored swim which successfully raised over £18,000 for the Club which went towards well-needed new timing equipment. Natalie has pushed on since then, introducing the Club Lucky Lotto and working on many other projects in the pipeline to help coordinate fundraising and increased social activities behind the scenes.
Vicky is a key Team Manager in the Club and has been on Stonyhurst training camps as well as many Open Meets. As an ex-swimmer, Vicky supports her two children in the scheme and brings a breadth of swimming knowledge to the Committee team.
John is the Aquatic Development Manager for SCL and de-facto becomes the Head Coach for City of Salford Swimming Club and taking a seat on the Committee. The Head Coach does not vote on Committee decisions but forms an important and integral role in leading the Club’s discussions and decision making from a Sport perspective. John is also the key representative of SCL at Committee Meetings and forming the bridge between SCL and the Club in the ongoing partnership.
Ceri conducts an important role as Welfare Officer – being a key point of contact for any member of our Club who requires further confidential support in whatever form that may come. Ceri sits independent from the Committee’s decisions and does not get voting rights but contributes to Club discussions. It is important for all of our members to know that the Welfare Officer does not disclose any topics, names or details to wider Club Committee meetings and everyone should feel safe in contacting Ceri for any competition or Club-organised activity concerns.
Working with Salford Community Leisure’s (SCL) Swimming Development Programme we nurture swimmers from post lessons to the international stage.
