In partnership with Salford Community Leisure (SCL), City of Salford Swimming Club operates across many Salford leisure centres to develop swimmers from SCL’s post-lesson Academies. The Academies bridge the gap to the Competitive Training Scheme where we have 6 groups leading through County, Regional, National and International standard.
We are proud to take local swimmers to the international stage, led by renowned Head Coach John Stout. The Club exists and operates to support swimmers both in and (mainly) out of the pool to give every swimmer the best possible chance to reach their potential.
In the last 20 years, the Salford programme has sent swimmers to a large number of international teams including Olympic & Paralympic Games, GBR Senior & Junior, Commonwealth Youth, International Schools – as well as winning multiple National medals consistently each and every year,
No sport requires more physical effort than swimming. Lesser “talents” can outwork (over the long haul) the more talented athlete.
Each athlete learns that they can achieve and that they can struggle and overcome adversity daily.
We teach the lesson that everyone has their “moment in the sun” and that we compete with and not against others.
Both male and female athletes are on par in the pool – constantly training and working together to push each other.
Everyone sees others go through ups & downs of the sport. Training and competition is built on those around us.
Working with Salford Community Leisure’s (SCL) Swimming Development Programme we nurture swimmers from post lessons to the international stage.
